Real Madrid and Marco Asensio might just part ways next season. Asensio had a troubled last season at Real Madrid and this season also, the situation has not improved much. There are other players in front of him in the pecking order and that has got him frustrated. The Spanish winger is looking for a new club next season to get regular game time and win trophies. His contribution last season tells the story as he played in really fewer games. Still, he managed to get his name on the scoresheet several times.
Despite this, Barcelona knows that Asensio is a quality player. He is one of the best in La Liga with his left foot devastating for any keeper in the world. He also supports the team defensively and has potential that is still unlocked. For some reason, He has not come to an agreement with Real Madrid who have decided to not offer a new contract to the Spaniard. This feels like a surprise as Asensio, despite now playing much, ended as the third top scorer for Los Blancos and looked set to continue in Spain. But that has not stopped him from exploring other options.
The current contract of the 26-year-old runs out in 12 months and many clubs have come in with offers for him. Arsenal and AC Milan both submitted bids for Asensio in the summer. But now, he is really wishing that a move to Barcelona happens as he will be a free agent next summer. This season, he could not leave as the offers by top clubs did not match what Los Blancos wanted. But rumors of a switch to Barcelona have taken over the news in recent weeks. The man himself did not rule out a move to eternal rivals Barcelona in his recent interview.
Asensio Down The Pecking Order For Ancelotti
It is unknown as to how Asensio, from being a starter, suddenly was not preferred anymore. The winger still scored clutch goals despite Rodrygo and Valverde’s preferred over him. If that is the case, he will be more than desperate to get going and maybe join the Blaugranas. Reports say that a preliminary contract is agreed between the clubs with Asensio set to play a vital role at Barcelona next season.
Xavi likes the prospect of this with Dembele’s future still unsure. The Frenchman has his contract running out in 2024 and nobody knows what will be coming. Asensio, in this case, will be following in the footsteps of Luis Figo and Ronaldo Nazario. But one thing is for sure, Asensio does not seem to have a future anymore at Real Madrid.
