Real Madrid are eyeing for the 19-year-old Rasmus Hojlund as Benzema’s replacement

Real Madrid and Barcelona

A report by Spanish outlet Fichajes mentions Real Madrid‘s interest in Rasmus Hojlund. Real Madrid is keeping an eye on the progress of Italian club Atalanta.

While growing up in his homeland, Rasmus Hojlund attended several clubs’ academies. In January 2022, he joined SK Sturm Graz after finding a stable footing at FC Copenhagen. The Danish striker ended his time with the Austrian club last summer when he joined Atalanta. He is one of the best young strikers in Serie A right now.

So far, he has played 16 times for Atalanta, scoring five goals and assisting twice. While the total may not seem impressive, it is nonetheless significant. In only 758 minutes of play, Hojlund has amassed these numbers. Real Madrid has taken notice of the player’s progress.

Hojlund to fill in the gap left by Benzema?

In 18 months, Endrick will join Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. With Mariano Diaz’s future uncertain, Real Madrid may seek a striker in the summer. Benzema has had some fitness issues over the course of the current season. Therefore, Real Madrid needs an alternative forward to replace the Ballon d’Or winner.

Several strikers, including Dusan Vlahovic, have been linked with Real Madrid recently. Rasmus Hojlund is also a tempting target for the reigning champions of La Liga. In the beginning, he can learn from Benzema and fill in when the Frenchman is away.

Hojlund can then compete with Endrick as the next Haaland. It should keep Real Madrid in good stead to pursue the teenage prodigy. Considering Hojlund only joined Atalanta last summer, the Serie A outfit might demand a hefty price for him.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid makes a move. In the meantime, Real Madrid are paying attention to 19-year-old Rasmus Hojlund. Hojlund shows great promise and is tipped to be the next Erling Haaland.
