Real Madrid are set to sacrifice a key youngster in hopes of a better deal

Real Madrid haven’t been their usual self in the transfer market this winter. This can be attributed to a sense of caution, after recent misadventures. Real are set to sacrifice key youngster in hopes of a better deal in France.

Los Blancos are trying to stay financially stringent. They’re looking to splurge in the upcoming transfer windows for replacements to many of the veterans who are set to retire at the end of the season.

The transfer strategy seems clear: one star signing per summer followed by one high-value professional, preferably for free. Despite Fran Garcia returning in the summer, it’s highly unlikely it will be enough.

Brahim Diaz has impressed the Merengues top brass with his performances in Milan. They’re looking to rope him back in for his €22m buy-out clause. Real Madrid also have a €27m buy-back clause for sure.

However, there has been a slight deviation from plans. Real Madrid reportedly are happy to let him stay in exchange for the €22m. This would enable them to go in pursuit of Lyon youngster Rayan Cherki.

Having broken into the scene at the tender age of 16, it was followed by a couple of bad seasons, just like Renato Sanches after moving to Bayern. However, he seems to have regained his form.

Cherki: A key youngster in the Madrid Jigsaw

Cherki, now 19, starts generally as an attacking or a right-attacking midfielder. That role is currently occupied by the ever-versatile Federico Valverde and oftentimes Rodrygo. However, this key youngster would breathe life into the midfield with his brilliant awareness.

A club of the stature of Real Madrid being unsure of selling or keeping Brahim goes to show how highly valued he is at the club. But then again, he will not get the minutes he expects and Real Madrid should not waste such a talent on the bench.

With likes of Camavinga, Ceballos, and Valverde in the ranks, Cherki could fit in quite well and complement Bellingham, should both come to Madrid, as per rumors.

Hazard’s deal, set to expire in 18 months, is the main problem. He is due €25m in salary for those two seasons and that would set back Real’s aspirations with the youngster.

Real Madrid have had glory in the past with blossoming youngsters like Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr., Camavinga, and Valverde. They would look to keep the good track record up and hope to secure this deal.
