Real Madrid did not wait for the summer transfer window. As they push to bring in Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of next month’s FIFA Club World Cup.
The Spanish giants have opened formal talks with Liverpool for the right-back. They are looking to register the 26-year-old defender in time for the club competition. Their opening clash will be against Saudi side Al-Hilal on June 18.
Although, the defender has a deal in place with Liverpool until June 30, 2025. However, Real are hoping to move fast and may need to pay over £1 million to make it happen.
The Reds are currently paying his £180,000-a-week wages. They could hold out for an additional £500,000 before agreeing to an early release. Los Blancos are looking at registration windows from June 1-10 or June 27-July 3 for him to enter into the CWC.
Fans Unhappy as Trent Alexander-Arnold Exit Nears
The English defender has confirmed on Monday that he will be leaving the Anfield club at the end of this campaign in June. As per reports, he has signed a five-year deal with the European giants as well.
There are still three games remaining for him to play with the Premier League champions. That includes what could be a nervy farewell at Anfield against Crystal Palace. The fans are already showing signs of frustration with his decision. Meanwhile, Liverpool Legend Jamie Carragher stating that the hostility from supporters is nothing uncertain.
Trent may play in games against Arsenal and Brighton. But, with many people flying it may not be the farewell he wants.
However, the Reds’ fans have been left saddened by the news of one of their own leaving their club.
