Real Madrid can leapfrog Barcelona

El Clasico

Real Madrid are back to where they left last season. 2nd in La Liga and Round of 16 in UCL, it is not bad for a team that was deemed finished after Ronaldo left. The team is looking stronger than ever with Benzema also returning from injury. It is fair to say that they had an easy UCL group as compared to other teams. But apart from that, they are firing in La Liga with Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Valverde leading from the front. Barcelona are currently the only team that are ahead of them in the league. The Catalans sit at the top with a 2-point lead. But this lead is too little for Barcelona to be comfortable.

As good as they have been on the pitch, Real Madrid had a successful transfer window in all aspects. Casemiro left for Manchester United but Ancelotti has new signing Tchaoumeni to praise. Antonio Rudiger replaces Varane at Real Madrid and has settled in really well. Apart from that, Los Blancos have managed to keep their squad’s core intact. The likes of Modric, Kroos, and Benzema are aging but yet at their best with support from the young guns who will be the future of this club. It must be said that this was a particularly less active window for them because not many departures took place. But Los Blancos did what they had to.

Now as reports say, Eden Hazard has already made up his mind of retiring internationally. The Belgian has been off formed for now so long and there does not look to be a way back for him. Belgium were knocked out disappointingly in the group stages only. Real Madrid will also look to get rid of him next summer after his contract expires. His time at Real Madrid is one of the worst situations someone can face. He has found himself on the bench almost every other game. Ancelotti also seems to have given up on the once-magical wizard.

Vinicius Junior Racially abused

Real Madrid had a very important victory at the Wanda Metropolitano in La Liga before the World cup. But some incidents took place that clearly did not go right with the players. Atletico’s fans racially abused Vinicius Junior calling him a monkey. A case was made for the incident but Spanish prosecutors feel that no particular person can be charged. It was a whole group of supporters with chants that lasted for some seconds.

But it was nothing but the result of a fiercely contested match. But it is still disappointing that racial abuse continues to take prevalence in football today. It is not the first time that Vinicius was attacked with such abuse as a similar has happened earlier also.
