Real Madrid Castilla defender Rafa Marin is on the radar of Chelsea and PSG as his contract expires at the end of the season. Marin has not yet made his debut with the first team. Though he was called up by Carlo Ancelotti many times, unfortunately, didn’t get a chance to make a debut in La Liga or in the Champions League. This could be a reason for his departure from Castilla to the Premier League or any top five leagues of European football.
Chelsea and PSG want to sign Rafa Marin for a free transfer
Marin’s contract expires next season and the clubs like Chelsea and PSG are keeping an eagle eye on the player’s situation. The 20-year-old young defender is a regular starter in Raúl’s team and has some decent stats. This season he has scored 2 goals in 15 appearances.
If the Spanish defender does not renew his contract then both PSG and Chelsea will try to sign him on a free transfer. Chelsea is planning a smart strategy for the long term and that’s why they want to sign a young defender. Their players including Koulibaly and Silva are on their thirtees. So they definitely need a young and skilled defender.
PSG also needs a young and reliable centre-back because Sergio Ramos and Danilo Pereira are aging, Kimpembe is not reliable and Marquinhos contract expires in 2024. However, few reports claim that PSG wants to extend the contract of the Brazilian defender for two more years. Well, Les Rouget-Bleu does not have a reliable centre-back option as a backup for Ramos and Marquinhos. Adding Marin on a free transfer would definitely be a smart move.
It is still not clear whether Real Madrid will offer Marin a contract extension. Some reports say that Real Madrid might extend his current contract if they learn about the interest of PSG and Chelsea.
