According to reports, Real Madrid is aiming to strengthen their right-back options in the summer. Their primary and most probable option is Liverpool‘s Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Englishman is reportedly leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the season. But as a backup option for TAA, the Blancos have caught their eyes on Diogo Dalot of Manchester United.
According to Relevo, the Portuguese international is just a possibility. As it will be difficult to sign him because he just renewed his contract in May 2023. It leaves his previous contract with four years remaining. According to the source, The Whites would need to invest at least £41 million to draw the interest of the Red Devils.
TAA’s contract expires at the end of the summer, thus Real Madrid could gain from signing him. That means that before the new season begins, the player and his camp are free to speak with other teams. They could even potentially sign a pre-contract agreement.
Diogo Dalot- the underrated gem
As we know, Amorim plays with 3-4-3 formation. Where the wing backs play the most important role in the side. They have to do both the defensive and offensive work & must track back constantly. And there’s aren’t many players with the work rate of Diogo Dalot around the globe.
He is proving to be an important member under the recently hired manager, Ruben Amorim. So the sale would be challenging. The 25-year-old has made his name by playing both full-back positions even under the former boss, Erik Ten Hag. After his outstanding performance in the 2023–24 season, he was also chosen as the Players’ Player of the Year.
Author’s opinion :
In the perspective of the Los Blancos, Diogo Dalot is a great candidate for the right back role. Though his playstyle is not similar to TAA but Dalot is also good in his own way. He is a two footed player who is good in both defense and attack. And for United the 25 y/o seems to be irreplaceable as of now.
