Real Madrid are reportedly trying to bolster their attack for the next seasons as they are linked with Fiorentina’s 21-year-old forward Dusan Vlahovic.
According to reports, Real Madrid are weighing up a move for Dusan Vlahovic in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old Serbian striker is viewed as a potential economical alternative to Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
The Serie A star is currently looked up as the successor to Karim Benzema by Los Blancos. The reason behind this is the French striker’s age predominantly.
Dusan Vlahovic has a €40 million price tag on him. However, he still has two years left on his contract for Fiorentina. It is believed that Fiorentina has been trying to extend his contract after his recent attraction from big clubs. However, it has not happened yet.
Vlahovic’s life at Fiorentina
Dusan Vlahovic joined Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade in the summer of 2018. He has since gone about establishing himself as a key figure for La Viola. However, the young forward has not only become a mainstay in attack for the club but take Italian football by storm.
The Serbian international has a fantastic record of 19 goals and 2 assists in 33 Serie A appearances. He is also among the top six scorers in the league with his 19 goal tally.
Fiorentina had a bad season in Serie A but Vlahovic’s performance for the team has been commendable. His impressive performances this season have brought the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, and AC Milan to Fiorentina’ doors.
Vlahovic as the successor of Benzema at Madrid
Benzema is having one of the best seasons in terms of his scoring. Currently, he is the only threat that Madrid possess in the attack. The Frenchman has scored 21 goals and provided 8 assists in La Liga making him the second top scorer in the league. He also has the contribution of 6 goals in the Champions League.
However, with his impressive performances this season it cannot be neglected that he has turned 33 and approaching his career end after few years. Madrid have been trying to find his successor. Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz have not been able to impress one bit and are both likely to be offloaded this summer.
Madrid’s interest in Vlahovic clears that has been chosen as the successor of the French Man in the team. The Serbian could be groomed by Karim Benzema before he is eventually ready to take over as the first-choice striker.
It is no doubt that a player of Vlahovic’s quality and at this young age could be a great choice for Zinedine Zidane. He could also offload the work from Benzema’s shoulder in the next seasons.
