Real Madrid is pleased to avenge El Classico’s defeat

El Classico is the most sought-after fixture in the world of football every season. Barcelona vs Real Madrid brings the footballing world alive and divides it into two halves. Last season, the El Classico in the second half of the season produced a shocking result.

Barcelona defeated Real Madrid against all odds 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu last season. It was a humiliating loss for the Los Blancos as the Blaugrana was struggling all season. Carlo Ancelotti and his men underestimated Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona and suffered a heavy defeat.

Xavi Hernandez actually got approval from many supporters after the result against Real Madrid. However, the result was described as a one-off match by Carlo Ancelotti who vowed to come back stronger. The Los Blancos have avenged the defeat this season as they beat Barcelona 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu and created a 3-point lead at the top of the table.

El Classico changes the perspective of fans and ownership alike

The defeat to Real Madrid has raised concerns for the Barcelona board and fans alike. The concern is that Barcelona has struggled to perform against the big clubs and in the Champions League. Barcelona failed to defeat Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid within the time span of one month.

This is a cause for concern since the results are such despite heavy spending in the summer. Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Franck Kessie, and Marcos Alonso have been signed this summer. The squad was strengthened so much but still the results have not followed as per expectations.

Xavi Hernandez will hope that the club hierarchy and fans do not make an impression on the basis of the result. However, the constant failures against top European clubs will not support his case for long. Results in games against Real Madrid are very important as the fixture culturally very sensitive as well. Nevertheless, Barcelona will hope to achieve the best that they can this season and hope the building in the right direction can continue in the coming seasons!!
