Real Madrid Kicked Out of the Copa del Rey by 3rd Tier Side CD Alcoyano

Real Madrid lost against 10 men and 3rd division side CD Alcoyano by 1-2 after extra time in 3rd round Copa del Rey. 

This year Zinedine Zidane’s side hot and cold performance continues after this shocking result on Wednesday night away at Estadio El Collao.

CD Alcoyano just promoted to the third division this season and this will be one of the biggest success in the history of the club.

Zinedine Zidane made few changes in his team and gave two players debut in Los Blancos shirt. The 21-years-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin and another young Spanish defender Victor Chust. 

Real Madrid started the game well and went ahead in the first half from a goal from Eder Militao right on the half time mark. But late into the game, they conceded and the game went into the extra time.

Alcoyano’s substitute player Ramon Lopez was shown a second yellow card and the 3rd division side went down to 10 men in the last 10 minutes of extra time but when everyone thought Real Madrid will win it against 10 men.

Zidane’s side conceded the second goal and kicked out of the competition this early stage. He brought on Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard to pull them back from this situation but they could not help.

Real Madrid have now lost back to back games and only one win in their last 5 matches in all competitions.

Los Blancos remain in the UEFA Champions League where they will play against Atalanta and they are sitting 2nd in the league just behind league leader city rival Atletico Madrid.
