According to a report from Football Insider, Real Madrid is looking to sign the Brazilian forward Richarlison from Everton this summer. Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of his former player and believes he has the ability to play for Los Blancos.
Richarlison signed for Everton in 2018 from Watford. Since joining he has been the mainstay at the forward for the toffees. The Brazilian has appeared 119 times for the Merseyside team while scoring 49 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.
This season under Ancelotti he has shown some fine form in front of the goal. But towards the end of the season, he seemed to be out of form. However, he managed to score 13 goals and 3 assists from 40 appearances in all competitions.
The Brazilian was also targeted by Barcelona in January following his form in the first half of the season. It was reported that the Catalans tabled an offer of £85 million for Richarlison. But the deal didn’t move forward as Everton were not interested in selling him.
However, he could leave this summer as his former manager and Madrid’s current manager is interested in signing him. Ancelotti has coached Richarlison for one season at Everton, and the Brazilian has almost proved his worth. But, currently, the Italian is thinking to bring him to Madrid to pair him with Karim Benzema in the upfront.
Carlo Ancelotti interested in bringing Richarlison to Real Madrid
Real Madrid suffered a very bad season under Zinedine Zidane. Los Blancos finished their season trophyless after almost a decade. They sit second in the La Liga table losing the title to Atletico Madrid. While they were also out of the Champions League in the semi-finals against Chelsea.
Following this poor season, Zidane decided to leave the club this summer. But Madrid has appointed their new manager Ancelotti to replace Zidane. The former Madrid manager has returned for his second spell after leaving his job at Goodison Park.
Ancelotti will be looking to restructure the team after the horrific season Madrid faced. Currently, he is focusing on the attacking department as he has laid his eyes on his former player Richarlison. Real Madrid had only one attacking option this season as they relayed on Benzema for goals. With Eden Hazard out with injury and Vinicius out of form this season, the Frenchman took the load of scoring goals in his shoulder.
But Ancelotti is looking to release some pressure from Benzema. The Italian has decided to sign Richarlison to pair him up with the Frenchman. It is no doubt that the Brazilian will be a great man up forward, following his spell under Ancelotti last season.
It was believed that Madrid is looking to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer. But the move might not happen as the youngster is valued high, following Madrid’s poor financial situation due to the pandemic.
However, Richarlison could fit into their budget with some better negotiation skills. The Brazilian could really shine if he is given a proper chance to prove himself at Los Blancos. So, let’s wait and see if Richarlison would be reuniting with his former manager for next season.
