Real Madrid on the lookout for Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri

Allegri

Italian publication Calciomercatoweb reports that Real Madrid showed interest in Massimiliano Allegri. The club is exploring potential options to replace Carlo Ancelotti should he depart in the near future. Allegri, the current Juventus manager, thus emerged as a leading candidate for the position.

Over the past decade, Massimiliano Allegri established himself as a highly successful manager, consistently achieving victory. Although he had a brief stint as a player with Napoli in 1998, he did not prominently feature for any renowned clubs. Allegri began his coaching career with modest teams such as Aglianese Calcio, SPAL, and US Grosseto before eventually joining Sassuolo.

Allegri experienced his initial managerial success with Sassuolo, leading them to the Serie C1 title. His reputation continued to grow during his four-year tenure with AC Milan. Back then he guided the team to a Serie A championship in the 2010/11 season. However, it was during his first spell with Juventus that his stock soared to new heights.

Between 2014 and 2019, Allegri enjoyed a five-year tenure with Juventus, capturing five consecutive Serie A titles. Additionally, he led the Bianconeri to six additional trophies and achieved two appearances in the UEFA Champions League finals. However, Allegri’s second spell with Juventus has been less remarkable in comparison.

Real Madrid to sign Massimiliano Allegri as next manager?

The once dominant forces in Italian football have experienced a significant amount of controversy rather than being consistent contenders for major titles. Nevertheless, Allegri’s reputation remains strong, as Real Madrid contemplates him as a potential successor to Carlo Ancelotti. The latest reports arise amidst rumors suggesting that the seasoned Italian coach might not be at the helm of Santiago Bernabeu when the 2023/24 season kicks off.

Real Madrid’s 2022/23 season has been far from remarkable, with only a Copa del Rey victory to their name. Their defense of the Champions League and La Liga titles concluded disappointingly. Recent rumors have connected Ancelotti to the Brazilian national team position, prompting Real Madrid to explore alternative options. Luciano Spalletti has emerged as one of the targets for the Spanish giants.
