Real Madrid sees Cody Gakpo as Benzema’s successor

The defending European and Spanish champions Real Madrid sees the Dutch striker Cody Gakpo as Benzema’s successor. Benzema is one of the brightest Galactico of Real Madrid’s golden era. He is one of the best players in the history of Real Madrid. The French International worked unselfishly from behind and others grabbed all the limelight. Benzema never down his head and continue to give everything for Los Blancos. Finally, he got all the spotlight that he deserve and was considered as a generational talent.

The Real Madrid captain achieved almost everything at this club and now he is in the final phase of his career. Moreover, he is battling with his continuous injuries which prevented him to play in the Qatar World Cup. The Merengues side doesn’t have a proper backup for the french giant.

Real Madrid sees Cody Gakpo as Benzema’s replacement

Real Madrid is planning to bring in a player who could be a successor of Karim Benzema. And according to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Real Madrid has identified the Frenchman’s successor in Cody Gakpo.
AS also said that Holland legend Rene Van de Kerkhof claimed about it on his podcast;

“I have reliable Spanish sources who report that Real wants to get Cody Gakpo as Benzema’s successor.”

Gakpo tremendous performance at the club and country level has tempted Real Madrid toward him. However, he is not even an outright striker. His ability to put the ball in the net means he could be used more in the centre as his career progresses. He also has all the physical attributes to play that role.

This season, Gakpo netted 13 times and made 17 assists in 24 games for his club, while in the Qatar World Cup he scored in all the games of the group stage.

Real Madrid wants to sign him in the summer but after the interest from Premier League clubs, the Spanish Champions might dip their toes in the January transfer market.
