About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to a report, Real Madrid is keeping tabs on the situation of Houssem Aouar ahead of the summer transfer window. The reigning La Liga champions are keen on signing the French international from Lyon.

Real Madrid has been linked with Aouar for some months now. They approached to buy him but Lyon asked for €50 million for the player which was believed to be too high by Madrid and the transfer talks broke down.

But the transfer talk has heated up after Lyon decreased the asking price to €30 million.

It is believed that Lyon will be willing to let the player leave after seeing huge interest from big clubs. Juventus, PSG, and Real Madrid are all in the market to sign the 22-year old after his impressive performance this season.

With the interest of signing Aouar, it is believed that Madrid is looking for options to replace the midfield duo of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Modric turns 36 this season and with Kroos already in his 30s, it’s time Madrid starts looking for their replacements.

The Frenchman has a contract till 2023, and it will be interesting to see if Madrid will be willing to sign the player as they are short in funds. The Los Blancos are also prioritizing signing a defender and a forward this season.

Aouar- A Young addition to Real Madrid ageing Midfield

Aouar broke into the first-team at Lyon in 2017 and has since gone on to become a mainstay in midfield.

The central midfielder has made 167 appearances for the club across competitions, scoring 30 and assisting 31 goals.

He has been impressive this season with 7 goals and 4 assists in 31 appearances, helping Lyon to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Aouar is a young quick and agile midfielder with great passing, positioning, and decision-making. He is great on the ball which makes him an undoubted starter in games where teams press the hell out.

Seeing his impressive record it is no doubt that he could be an ideal player for Madrid’s midfield. He would also learn a lot from the master duo of Modric and Kroos before he becomes a first-team name.

It is no doubt that a midfielder of Aouar’s quality will undoubtedly be the right choice for Zinedine Zidane if he is confident that he can get the best out of him. He could also give a great competition to Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard who would be returning from loan.
