Liverpool may not only lose Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer, but also Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid.
Ibrahima Konate to Los Blancos this June
Real Madrid want to add Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate to their squad, as per Football Insider. His contract lasts until 2026, and there is no indication of a renewal. In addition, right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is also on their list for next campaign.
If Trent choose to leave for Spain, Konate might also join him. The France international hasn’t appeared to renew his contract yet. Apparently, the 25 year-old centre-back reportedly is now top of Real Madrid’s list and PSG are tracking him too.
The Reds’ priority is to offer the Frenchman a new deal. Their new sporting director Richard Hughes is working on this extension. He is leading the talks to reject a repeat of the last contract stand-off.
The Premier League leaders do not want to have a situation similar to Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Both of whom only recently signed new contracts.
Arne Slot planning for a defensive shift
As Ibrahima’s stance is unclear, the Reds have already started looking for other options. Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi and Juventus’ Dean Huijsen are also on their list for this summer window.
But the French centre-back isn’t the only big name who might be leaving Anfield this summer. Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz are all reportedly on the chopping block of new boss Arne Slot. As the manager plans to make some attacking changes in the squad.
The Reds are willing to accept bids above £60 million for Diaz. The striker is being linked to Barcelona and Saudi club Al Nassr.
Nunez is also likely to exit during the summer window. Also, Arsenal are keeping tabs on Jota.
The Anfield club is looking to refresh their squad and raise funds for new signings.
If Real Madrid come knocking with a good offer for Konate, the defender may have to make a big call.
