Real Madrid’s captain is close to returning from injury

Karim Benzema

Real Madrid lost their captain to injury during the match against Celtic in the Champions League. Eden Hazard came on for Karim Benzema and played his best games for the Los Blancos. The club won the match 3-0.

However, losing Benzema to injury is a scary situation. At the same time, Real Madrid does have options to replace him in the starting lineup in Asensio, Rodrygo, Hazard, and Mariano. None of the players is a natural number nine and doesn’t possess the same technical brilliance as the French international.

Real Madrid captain is set to return from injury

Club captain Karim Benzema is closing in on his return back from injury. According to Diario AS. Benzema, Carlo Ancelotti, and fitness trainer Antonio Pintus are reportedly progressively increasing the effort on his knee. The knee has bursitis, a condition that causes swelling and inflammation without a full recovery.

Karim Benzema has started practicing again in preparation for the team’s La Liga match against Osasuna on Sunday. The 34-year-old returned to the group on Wednesday to participate in training before a heavy October schedule that includes an El Classico match against fierce rivals Barcelona.

Even if Benzema doesn’t make it to the squad against Osasuna, his initial injury timeframe of three weeks would indicate that he might be available soon. Next week’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk is a potential goal. However, Real Madrid has not announced an official time.

In his absence, Rodrygo stepped up with dominant displays. Coach Ancelotti would be mindful of how to use Benzema after his return. Benzema is a sure pick for the France National team participating in the World Cup. Real Madrid also has important fixtures ahead of them, like the approaching El Classico and Champions League ties.
