Renato Veiga takes major decision amidst exit rumours

Renato Veiga has been heavily linked with Chelsea exit recently. He has taken an important decision about his future. His decision can come as a very good news for Chelsea fans.

Veiga joined the Blues in summer for £12 million from Basel. He is highly versatile and can play anywhere in the backline. In addition, he can even play as midfielder but was given the role of left back by Maresca.

Maresca said openly that he prefers Veiga over Chilwell. However, the 21 year still has not received sufficient game time. He has so far played only 177 minutes in Premier League.

This started the rumours of Veiga moving away from Chelsea after just six months. He was heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund and it was said that he has agreed the personal terms with the German club.

Veiga was linked with permanent exit with Chelsea demanding €30 million for him. He was said to move away in order to play regularly as centre back and keep his place in Portugal national team. Despite all these rumours, the latest reports suggests otherwise.

Renato Veiga willing to stay at Chelsea for long time

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Veiga wants to stay at Chelsea for long time. He added that the 21 year old trusts the project and has refused to leave permanently. However, Veiga is still open to move away on loan this month.

Veiga will like to move away on loan in order to play regularly. As of now, Maresca has preferred to use Reece James over on multiple occasions as left back. In addition, Veiga is way behind in pecking order for centre back position.

Despite the player wanting an away move, Chelsea will have huge say in his future. As of now, they are very likely to part ways with Ben Chilwell. This will make Veiga the only backup for Marc Cucurella.
