Roma defender Diego Llorente would be out for about two weeks

Jose Mourinho has concerns about his available alternatives for Roma’s critical Serie A run-in after Diego Llorente and Paulo Dybala both sustained injuries in the 3-1 loss to Atalanta on Monday evening.

The biggest issue, though, came in the last minutes of the game, when they were virtually reduced to nine men. Defender Llorente was pursuing Duvan Zapata when he collapsed in pain, holding the back of his right leg. He was undoubtedly in tears when he made his way to the bench and sat there during stoppages until all of the substitutions were finished. Sky Italia has already verified that Llorente would be out for about two weeks while he recovers from a flexor muscle injury in his left leg. Therefore he might miss the Giallorossi’s crucial league games against Milan, Monza, and Inter.

With that in mind, Dybala had to finish the game despite being clearly unable to put his left foot down. Jose Luis Palomino had tackled La Joya a few minutes earlier, locking his left ankle underneath and potentially spraining it. Palomino received a yellow card for that foul.

Dybala breathes a sigh of relief

Roma supporters will have to cross their fingers for Dybala, who is scheduled in for more tests on Wednesday morning. He is suffering an ankle injury late from Monday night’s game after a clattering challenge from Atalanta’s Jose Luis Palomino. Dybala had only appeared in Bergamo as a second-half substitute, going on after 64 minutes. However he felt great pain after Palomino’s hefty tackle. However many believe that Palomino’s challenge should have resulted in a red card. Jose Mourinho joked over the weekend that Roma’s injury list is so long that he, Francesco Totti, and Aldair could all play for the Giallorossi in their upcoming games. Dybala wrote on his Instagram account that:-

“The tests were positive, we are working to be at 100 per cent as soon as possible” . It remains possible Dybala could even start against Milan this weekend.
