Roma to complete their unfinished business involving Denis Zakaria

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

According to several reports, AS Roma might be completing their half-ending pursuit for Denis Zakaria in January. The Italians had emerged as the favorites to land Zakaria in the summer window but the deal fell off due to some reason. But Roma have not given up on their hope on signing Zakaria, as they are considering signing him in January.

Denis Zakaria emerged in the top form as he joined Borussia Monchengladbach in 2017 from Swiss club Young Boys. Since his debut for the German side, Zakaria has appeared 130 times, scoring 10 goals and 7 assists. However, his strong presence in the center midfield is the main talking point.

Following his emerging talent AS Roma approached Monchengladbach for signing the 24-year-old. While the German side demanded 20 million to let Zakaria leave this summer. But Roma refused to pay that much demanding to lower the price. All the things seemed going well for the transfer, but hard luck the deal fell off at the last moment, and the reason behind it is still unknown.

Following this AS Roma failed to sign any midfielder this summer losing the deal for both Granit Xhaka and Zakaria. While Xhaka has been permanently cut off the transfer list after Arsenal saying they have no interest in selling the midfielder. However, Zakaria’s name on the Roma list still stays over a possible transfer next summer.

Denis Zakaria’s current contract with the German side is set to end next summer, following which Roma can approach him in January. And keeping in mind the midfielder’s desire to leave the Bundesliga side gives Roma confidence. So, we might be seeing Denis Zakaria playing in Roma’s midfield in the next season.
