Romelu Lukaku could re-join Inter next season

Lukaku

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku could join Inter Milan next season on loan after failing to perform consistently in the Premier League. He returned to Chelsea in a club-record transfer worth £97.5 million in 2021. Since then, the Belgian forward has found it hard to recapture his Inter Milan form.

Romelu Lukaku and his Chelsea woes

Chelsea’s world-record transfer Lukaku has certainly not lived up to the expectations. In his last season with Inter Milan, he played a crucial role in their title triumph. In his two seasons at Inter, he scored 64 goals in his 95 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Since the start of the season, the Belgian international has scored five goals and provided just one assist in 19 Premier League outings. Moreover, some brilliant performances by Kai Havertz have put some pressure on Lukaku. Lukaku’s current wages do not justify his form with the forward current is one of the highest paid players at Chelsea.

Despite all that, the London Club will not be looking to sell Lukaku. A loan move would be ideal for the Belgian forward to reignite his form. It is believed that the striker does not fit in Tuchels’s system. The Chelsea manager demands a lot from his strikers which the Belgian is unable to fulfill.

And according to recent reports his former team, Inter Milan is ready to offer him a way out. Inter will be short of attacking options next season with the future of Lautaro Martinez uncertain. Also, Edin Dzeko who turned 36 this year could retire at the end of the season.

Moreover, Lukaku had also spoken about his love for Inter publicly. The statement from him in December had made some Chelsea fans angry with him. Lukaku, later appolozied the Chelsea supporters for his statement.

Lastly, Lukaku’s current situation is uncertain and a move away from Chelsea is a huge possibility.
