Romeo Fernandes joins hands with SC East Bengal

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

SC East Bengal have signed winger Romeo Fernandes from FC Goa ahead of the Indian Super League 2021-22. It will be a golden opportunity for Fernandes as he can prove himself at East Bengal and can get back to the top division league of the country.

The Red and Gold will be facing problems building a stronger team in a short span of time. They can just hope that the new signings play at their best in the coming edition of ISL.

SC East Bengal are signing players in a race to start their preparations on time and open the coming ISL edition with their stronger foot. Till now they have signed in Sarineo Fernandes, Amarjit Singh Kiyam, and Adil Khan on loan deals. Reports suggest that many domestic players are in advance talks with the club.

Professional Football Journey of Romeo Fernandes

Fernandes joined hands with Goa-based club Dempo in 2011 and played 36 matches for the club in three years. He also went to play abroad at Atlético Paranaense, a top division Brazilian Club in 2015.

FC Goa signed the winger on a season-long deal during the 2016 ISL edition. That season he appeared in 13 fixtures and scored one goal for the Gaurs. While his stay at FC Goa he went out on a short loan deal to East Bengal.

Later he joined Delhi Dynamos (now Odisha FC) in 2017 where he played 26 matches across four seasons adding one more goal to his name.

The winger missed on the last season of the ISL as no club signed him to their squad. He had a spell with the developmental team of the Goa Premier League. After which FC Goa added him back to their squad that played in the AFC Champions League. However, appeared in one match as a substitute in the match against Al Rayyan.

Fernandes has also represented U-23 squad of India in the AFC U-22 qualifiers at Oman.
