With having just five months remaining in his contract, Messi was earlier linked to Manchester City, along with Paris Saint-Germain. City however bowed out of the transfer race, but PSG are still meddling into signing the Blaugrana captain.
According to a number of reports, PSG star Angel Di Maria recently spoke about his desire to play with his fellow Argentine.
But the Barcelona head coach is rather growing bored about the Ligue 1 leaders speaking about the Barça superstar.
Messi’ transfer talk called off by Ronald Koeman:
The former Real Madrid midfielder, who too is soon out of contract at the end of the season talked about his South American compatriot’ potential move,
“I have already played with Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe. If I could play as well with Leo, I could happily retire after that. It would be the best. I could not ask for anything more in football.” — Di Maria’ wish over possible Leo Messi transfer to PSG
These comments have made Koeman’s blood boil. He as well reacted and slammed Di Maria and his opinion,
“Di Maria’s words saying Messi has many options to go to PSG? It’s a lack of respect from the people at PSG to talk about Messi so much. It’s not fair nor do they demonstrate respect for a player who is still from Barça.” — Ronald Koeman upon PSG pestering Messi
Regardless his contract news and other speculations, Messi has been impressive this 2020-21 season so far. The 33-year-old forward has made 28 appearances and scored 18 goals in overall competitions.
