Ronaldo to quit Manchester United amid Lionel Messi fear

FIFA World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo is topping football headlines this week again as the United ace fails to turn up for training again. The number 7 has also not been included in the preseason squad due to unknown family reasons.

Media claims have cited a Lionel Messi fear as a possible reason why the Portuguese has not turned up for training. It has been reported that the 37-year-old is envious of the fact that Lionel Messi will be playing in the Champions League next season. As for the Red Devils, they have not made the Top 4 spot in the league

United had one of their worst seasons under Ole Gunner Solskjaer who eventually was replaced by Ralf Ragnick. Despite CR7 scoring 24 goals for United, they were unable to progress to Champions League and had to settle for the Europa League. It’s no surprise as to why Ronaldo sees the Europa League as below his standard, being the highest scorer in the history of the Champions league.

Ronaldo Hands Transfer Request To United

Amid all the reports, Cristiano Ronaldo came out of nowhere to hand a transfer request to United. United have however made it clear how they see Ronaldo as a non-saleable asset. New manager Erik Ten Hag has also been left shocked with this Ronaldo request but understands that the Portuguese do not want to leave any room for Lionel Messi to overtake him as the highest goalscorer.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich emerged as possible destinations for the No. 7 but United won’t be looking to get rid of Ronaldo this easily. Reports have been there about a formal offer from Chelsea for Ronaldo, while Bayern Munich President Khan has shoved down any chance of Bayern signing Ronaldo.

It will be interesting to see where the Portuguese ends up staying. Will it be his ego to not play Europa League football Or his love for the Red Devils, what will come out on top? Only time can tell.
