New Man United manager Ruben Amorim is keen to speak with teenage star Amad Diallo. Whom the club risks losing on a free transfer next summer. The 22 year-old is nearing the end of his contract. Though United can activate his one year extension clause. But Amad must be notified about their decision before the end of January. If not, the Ivorian will be able to sign a pre-contract deal with other interested clubs.
Amad has appeared in all three of Amorim’s games so far. And he also got praised by the Portuguese. The Red Devils do not want to lose the 22-year-old, who has been superb so far as a wing-back in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. The Telegraph reports that his future will be a top priority at Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
Amad joined United from Italian side Atalanta for £37 million in 2021. At that time he was a 19 y/o teenager with a lot of potential. Though he didn’t have a smooth start to his career at United. However, loan spells with Rangers & Sunderland helped him to draw the attention of previous manager Erik Ten Hag.
Amorim desperate to renew Amad
However, fans believed he didn’t get enough minutes under the Dutch manager last season. He only appeared in 9 Premier League games last season. But Amad’s fortune took a turn and now he has already become one of the most important player of the squad. After the sacking of ETH, the winger has scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists under the interim manager and now under Amorim.
And after the weekend’s 4-0 victory against Everton, Amorim has become desperate to renew Amad’s contract. The Portuguese manager spoke very highly of him at the post match press conference. He said,
“Amad was really good defensively and really good attacking and he has to continue to play like that. You could feel at the end of the game that he was really, really tired, so we also have to manage that as he increases the physical ability.”
