Sadio Mane seems to be not living up to his expectations at Bayern. According to a report from Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau, there are other factors contributing to Sadio Mane’s inconsistent performance since his arrival at Bayern Munich.
While an injury before the World Cup did set him back, there are rumors that Sadio Mane had difficulty adjusting to the style of play in Germany. He has had trouble communicating with his teammates due to a language barrier. Additionally, there are concerns that he’s struggling with the pressure of living up to his high transfer fee and reputation as a top-class player.
The report states further. Sadio Mane has been struggling to provide value to Bayern Munich’s team when they have possession of the ball. Additionally, the report suggests that Mane may have lost the speed and explosiveness that made him a standout player at Liverpool.
Sadio Mane plays a different role at Bayern Munich compared to Liverpool
It seems that Mané’s tactical role in Bayern Munich is significantly different from what he had at Liverpool. He predominantly played as a left winger at Liverpool, with support from left-back Andrew Robertson. But Sadio Mane now operates as a second striker in the half-spaces under Nagelsmann. This is due to the fact that the left flank is typically occupied with Alphonso Davies in Bayern Munich’s back three system.
Bayern Munich’s decision to sign Sadio Mane during the summer transfer window was sudden. It can be interpreted as an attempt to make a significant offensive addition to the squad. And also to replace some of the goals that could be lost if Robert Lewandowski left the club, as was speculated at the time.
Despite the negative reports on Sadio Mane’s performance, it is too early to judge him completely. It is possible that he is still not operating at his full potential. He might be struggling to adjust to his new role in the team. Bayern Munich should allow him more time to prove himself. But it may take longer than expected, and the club’s patience will be tested. Bayern Munich hoped that Mane would be a reliable addition to the team. But it seems like an experiment for now.
