Jadon Sancho is having a great time this season with the Blues. And he is also enjoying his life in West London, as he proved that yesterday. Sancho, who is on a season long loan deal from Manchester United, will be joining Chelsea on a permanent deal next season. But to make that happen, Chelsea would need to finish above 14th in the league standings. It would cost them £20-25million, depending on how they finish the season.
On the other hand, United, who made things difficult for Sancho, are supposedly paying off that price. The Red Devils have started their 2024-25 season journey in the worst way possible. They have lost 3 of their 6 league fixtures already and currently standing at the 12th position in the table with 7 points. Erik Ten Hag and his players literally got humiliated in the Old Trafford against Liverpool in the matchday three. Something very similar happened on Sunday night when Tottenham Hotspurs faced them at the Trafford.
Spurs destroys United
United started the match in the worst possible way against the Spurs. The away side got their lead early, as they scored in the 2nd minute through a superb run from defender Micky van de Ven along with a cut off pass, which found Brennan Johnson’s feet in front of an open goal. The visitors were constantly asking questions to United with their attacking prowess. Johnson on the right side was a so good that he almost doubled their lead when he struck a low shot from near the edge of the box, which hits the far left post.
Things got even worse for the Red Devils, when their captain Bruno Fernandes got sent off in the 42nd minute. Due to his challenge on Maddison, Bruno was shown a straight red and he will miss the next three league games. The second-half also started with a goal from Spurs, through a acrobatic finish from Dejan Kulesevski. The 10-men United fought good in the second half but they lacked in the opponent d-box. Ange Postecoglou’s men finished things off with a third goal from Dominic Solanke.
The Old Trafford was left in total silence after United’s performance. Manager Erik Ten Hag was getting shouts to leave the club, but he clarified he won’t be going anywhere. Amongst all the chaos in social media, Sancho and Chelsea didn’t hold back to enjoy themselves.
Sancho adds fuel on United’s fiery situation
Sancho never had a good relationship with Erik Ten Hag, ever since the Dutch manager joined United. Ten Hag never trusted the English winger as he exiled Sancho from his squad. He didn’t play football for almost half a season before leaving United on loan to join his previous club Borussia Dortmund in January. Ten Hag who believed Sancho was not enough for his team has been proved wrong by the Englishman. As the 24-year-old winger has already become a starter under Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea didn’t even hesitate to mock the Dutch coach in a mischievous way after the United-Spurs game. Few minutes after the full-time whistle at Old Trafford, Chelsea posted a tweet on X. It shows an image of Sancho and Palmer laughing together in the Blues kit. Naturally this tweet pissed off the United fans after the misery they went through before. However, to spark more fire Sancho himself reposted the tweet.
The United fans were definitely not happy with that move from Sancho. They started to abuse him in social media by calling him a ‘rat’. However, Chelsea and other club fans around the world shown their full support to Sancho, as they are saying he did nothing wrong. This act will definitely worsen the relationship between United and the Englishman, but it seems like Sancho do not have a problem with that.
