Chelsea had a very good summer transfer window. They managed to sign total number of 13 players this summer. Jadon Sancho is the latest player to join Chelsea this summer. The Blues have decided to sign Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy next year. On the other hand, they have sent Raheem Sterling on loan to Arsenal. Sancho’s move concluded the very busy transfer for Todd Boehly and co.
Enzo Maresca made it clear that he will not use Raheem Sterling at all this season. This made the former City player to leave the Stamford Bridge. Earlier he was included in a potential swap deal to sign Sancho from Manchester United. However, it was Arsenal who achieved Sterling’s signature on the deadline day. Sterling is said to be a temporary solution for the current Arsenal problems. However, the deal was in the best interest for Chelsea as they were finally able to sign their young target.
Chelsea finally sign Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho joined Manchester United in 2021 from Borussia Dortmund. However, he was not able to continue the form he had with Dortmund at Old Trafford. In addition, he got in a conflict with Erik Ten Hag which made him miss most of the last season for United. Sancho was then sent on loan back to Dortmund where he helped the German club to reach the Champions League final. Sancho impressed a lot of clubs with his time at Germany. However, Ten Hag left Sancho out of the squad for both of the Premier League fixtures this season. This made his move away from Old Trafford an ideal solution for both parties.
Juventus were the long time admirers of Sancho. However, they wented to sign Sancho on loan. United wanted a permanent solution and hence they have now agreed the deal with Chelsea. Chelsea will also sign Sancho on loan but with an obligation to buy next year. According to BBC, the Blues will need to pay around £20-25 million next summer. Chelsea view the 24 year old winger as a potential replacement for Raheem Sterling. However, it will be intersting to see if Sancho is able to get enough gametime at Stamford Bridge due to the heavy competiton and number of options available for Enzo Maresca.
