SC East Bengal planning to trim down their squad before the start of the season

East Bengal are planning to cut down their squad with Indian Super League coming thick and fast. The outfit from Bengal has a roster of 35 players and expects to trim down at least 7 players, before flying to Goa for their training camp.

Coach Head coach Jose Manuel ‘Manolo’ Diaz indicated that his players still have a chance to prove their value.

“At the moment, we are getting to know the players. We now have many players and we are testing them. In the coming weeks, we are going to finalise the squad,” – said the coach.

Sources have confirmed that the final squad for Indian Super League can have a depth of 27 players with 3 goalkeepers, 18 Indian players, and 6 foreign players. The announcement of the final squad will be made before flying out to Goa since they don’t want any disruptions in the camp.

SC East Bengal has already played three pre-season friendlies and was on the winning end in all three. The training is in full flow with players facing intense sessions to make the cut. With only one month left, before the start of the new season, we expect an announcement in the coming days.

Speculation around the names of the players who might be released is only conjectured as we wait to see the final squad. East Bengal expects to play a flexible system under their new coach. The coach has warned that all the decisions will be purely tactical.
