SC East Bengal on Monday, have completed the signing of young midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam on a loan deal from FC Goa. The loan deal will keep him at the club till the Indian Super League 2021-22.
Manipur born 20 years old midfielder has joined FC Goa on February 2021. He only played two fixtures for the Gaurs as he joined the club in the second phase of the Campaign. However, Amarjit appeared in four of the six fixtures for the Gaurs at the AFC Champions League last season.
He is an AIFF Elite Academy graduate and began his professional career playing football for AIFF owned club Indian Arrows. Having played 16 fixtures across two seasons for the Blues he found back of the net on one occasion.
The youngster signed for the ISL club Jamshedpur FC in 2018. But he went back to the Blues on a loan deal. While plying his trade at the Arrows he netted thrice in 20 fixtures. Finally making his ISL debut in 2019 with the Jamshedpur FC. In his three years of stay at the club, he only managed to play 15 fixtures. After parting ways with the Red Miners he joined the Gaurs in search of more playtime.
Before starting his professional career the player represented the India U-17 team in the FIFA World Cup 2017, leading the team as the skipper in the tournament.
The Guars have quality experienced midfield players in their fray. Amarjit making a move to SC EastBengal will be very helpful for the youngster as it will help him increase the game time.
How prepared is SC East Bengal for the Upcoming ISL season?
The Red and Gold finished ninth in their maiden ISL campaign last season. Many domestic players from other ISL teams are already linked with the club. The club will have less time to prepare and compete in the ISL 2021-22. The main reason being differences in opinions between the club and its Investor.
Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamata Banerjee helped the sides to settle the problems within the management.
Reports say that they have also retained many of their players who were a part of the squad during ISL 2020.
