Serge Gnabry is criticized in Germany for his lack of consistency

Football Express

Serge Gnabry has been a part of Bayern Munich ever since his return from loan at 1899 Hoffenheim. The winger has had a roller coaster-type career with the Bavarians over the seasons. The German international has impressed a lot in some games, however, has also failed to live up to expectations in others.

The inconsistency of the forward has been the reason for his criticism by the media outlets in Germany. The player has an impeccable record for the national team, however, has failed to perform as per expectations recently even internationally.

The player is reportedly not happy with the limited minutes at Bayern Munich especially in important matches. Manager, Julian Nagelsmann has a squad stacked with talent and it is a tough job to keep everyone happy. There is no issue between the player or the Manager as such except a wish for more regular minutes.

Serge Gnabry has suffered due to injury woes as well

The German international has missed quite a few games in the recent past due to injury concerns. The Manager has also a host of options for the forward positions after the summer acquisition of Sadio Mane and the emergence of Jamal Musiala from the youth setup.

The competition amongst the squad is very tough and inconsistent performances from Serge Gnabry in such a scenario do not help his cause. However, the player still deserves more opportunities without a doubt. The season is very packed and Julian Nagelsmann will eventually rotate his options and give him more minutes. However, the current performances have been lackluster and the criticism is rightly levied.

Hopefully, Serge Gnabry can bring in more consistency and stake a claim for a prominent role in the first team. It is an important season for the player as it is a World Cup year and all players want to play in the tournament. It is also important for the club as they want to create an identity distinct from Robert Lewandowski after his departure to Barcelona!!
