Serie A Far From Over as Milan, Inter, Juventus Win

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Matchday 15 of Serie A started with a 6-2 demolition and ended with a 4-1 rout. The title race can go in any direction with 5 teams in a 10 point gap.

AC Milan are on top of the table with 37 points from 15 games. Inter Milan are close behind with 36 points from 15 games.

Even though there were speculation that Juventus were too late to get back into the title race, the Old Lady bounced back. They now have 27 points from 14 games and sit at fifth.

Serie A more competitive this year:

The day started off with Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan thrashing Crotone 6-2 with a brilliant second-half performance. The highlight was Lautaro Martinez’s first hattrick, a perfect hattrick.

This was Inter Milan’s 8th win in a row. After a sluggish start to the season, the Nerazzurris have bounced back to become serious contenders for the Scudetto.

Their win took them to the top of the table for a few hours until AC Milan played Benevento. The Serie A leaders won the game 0-2 even though they played with 10 men for over an hour. Goals from Rafael Leão and Franck Kessié sealed the game for the Rossoneris.

Stefano Pioli’s side made it 3 wins in 3 games after 2 successive draws. They were without their top scorer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is currently recovering from his reoccurring thigh injury.

Meanwhile, in Turin Juventus cruised past Udinese with a comfortable 4-1 victory to take a much needed 3 points. Juventus who are currently fighting for their 10th consecutive Serie A title are 10 points behind leaders AC Milan with a game in hand.

Cristiano Ronaldo took his tally to 14 goals in Serie A to lead the goal-scoring charts. Keep in mind that he has played just 11 games this season after missing out a few because he came in contact with COVID.

This year has many Serie A teams vying for the coveted trophy. The January transfer window will be crucial for the clubs. A tight finish does not seem to be a fantasy anymore.
