AC Milan situation in Serie A:
Milan is looking very exciting team to watch with quite a lot of promising young players they have in their squad. Rafael Leão, Brahim Diaz, Theo Hernandez, and the new Italian Pirlo Sandro Tonali, Gianluigi Donnarumma may seem there forever but he is only 21.
Manager Stefano Pioli rejuvenated this Milan side after he was appointed as the caretaker manager. Rossoneri almost appointed Ralf Rangnick in the summer but what they saw from Pioli’s side after the restart last season they ended up giving him two years contract.
The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in January helped the young team to go forward. He has become a talismanic figure and a leader on the pitch. He surprised everyone with his goal-scoring prowess and fitness at the age of 39. After recovering from Covid -19, he scored 11 goals and assisted twice in just 10 matches this season.
Milan is sitting at the top of the league with 20 points in 8 matches and the Swedish forward also leading the scoring chart with 10 goals. They have won 6 games and drawn 2 this season. They are still unbeaten alongside Sassuolo and Juventus.
If they can keep this form throughout the season and Ibrahimovic remains fit, though he picked up a hamstring injury against Napoli. They have a really good chance to go all the way this season and they can play Europe’s elite tournament Champions League next season, after almost nine years.
What is happening with Juventus in Serie A:
Juventus hasn’t been convincing this season so far. They have already lost 8 points in 8 matches, with 4 wins and 4 draws, they are 4th with 16 points in the race. They are not playing convincing football either in attack or in defence.
The bright side is that Alvaro Morata is looking confident and Cristiano Ronaldo is banging goals. Morata glimpsed his old Juventus form in his second innings for Bianconeri. Ronaldo has scored in every single Serie A match since recovering from coronavirus. He scored 8 times in five appearances and sitting 2nd on the scoring chart behind Ibrahimovic.
Andrea Pirlo was appointed as the new Juve manager after they sacked Maurizio Sarri. Pirlo hasn’t had any coaching experience before taking the toughest job in Italian football. He hasn’t found the right formation, balance, and even his best 11. He used 3-5-2 in some matches and 4-4-2 in others.
The inconsistent form of Paulo Dybala and injuries to the best defensive pair Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini hasn’t helped Pirlo to settle. Dybala hasn’t found his feet under new management, after coming back from Covid-19 he is struggling with his form.
The situation with Inter, Roma, Napoli, Lazio and Atalanta BC:
Napoli is looking very good under Gennaro Gattuso but their defeat to Milan and point deduction for not showing up against Juventus left them behind in the title race. They sit in 6th position with 14 points in 8 Serie A fixtures.
After a fight against the board, Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte got the players what he asked for but, on the pitch, nothing has changed so far. They looked frail defensively and they are fifth with 15 points, also doesn’t seem like the team that will be a champion this season.
Atalanta and Lazio haven’t found their last season’s form and they are sitting seventh and eighth respectively with 14 points.
Roma looked better this season than the last, they are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions, also managed to draw against Milan and Juventus. Even though they looked good so far but it is unlikely that they can be the champion, the best finish will be top 4 for them.
The biggest surprise this season is Sassuolo they are sitting 2nd with 18 points. They are playing pretty entertaining expansive football that caught everyone’s eyes. It will be the biggest fairy tale result if they can win the title.
It will be a fascinating Serie A title race this season in some time and will it be the year for AC Milan? Or anyone else can break the Juventus’ streak or it will be Juventus for the 10 consecutive times? The race for scudetto is getting exciting.
