According to the latest report by Daily Mail, Sevilla is interested in signing their former player Sergio Ramos this summer. It is reported that Sevilla has offered a five-year deal to Ramos after he failed to renew his contract with Real Madrid.
Ramos joined the Real Madrid side as a youngster from Sevilla in 2005. Los Blancos beat the likes of Barcelona and many other big clubs to sign the talented youngster. Madrid went to pay €27 million for Ramos, which was a record deal for a Spanish player at the time.
However, the money paid by the club has been effective as Ramos has turned to be a legend for Real Madrid. The defender has been always been the mainstay at the backline for Madrid for almost 16 years, and his stats as a Los Blancos player is also pretty impressive. The Spaniard has gone to appear for a record 671 times for Real Madrid in all competitions. While he has also chipped in 101 goals and 40 assists playing as a defender. Ramos has also won 5 La Liga titles and 4 Champions League titles during his stay.
But this season he has failed to live up to his earlier performances. As he was mostly out of the team due to injury, and this cost Madrid heavily this season. Despite being injured the captain managed to appear 21 times while scoring 4 goals and 1 assist.
Sevilla offers a five-year deal to Sergio Ramos
It is no shock that Sevilla wants to resign their former player after selling him 16 years ago to their rival club. Sergio Ramos rose through the ranks of the Sevilla youth system, it is where he first started his football career.
He played for Sevilla’s first team for two years before moving to Santiago Bernabeu. In his two years stay, Ramos managed to appear 45 times for Sevilla, while scoring 3 goals in all competitions. Following his impressive performances at the backline at such a young age, Madrid decided to sign the player.
Ramos’s departure to Madrid in 2005 left the Sevilla fans angry, as they thought he would stay a lit bit longer with them. However, over the years the anger has drowned and the fans and club still hope to see him back at their stadium. And, to a surprise, Ramos was proud and loved playing for Sevilla, as he stated in a recent documentary.
While now the dreams of Sevilla fans, seeing Ramos again play in their jersey could come true this summer. As it is reported that Sevilla has offered a five-year deal to Sergio Ramos for re-joining his childhood club.
The 34-year-old has been offered a deal that will make him stay at Sevilla until 2026, while he would be earning €7 million per year. Other than that the club has also offered him a seat at the higher table after his contract ends after 5 years.
