Sheffield United host Manchester United at Bramall Lane on Thursday night in a Premier League fixture. The Blades have struggled this season, they only have 1 point this season and it’s Mid-December. If they continue this way they might break Derby County’s record.
Manchester United are in flaky form as well. They might have won 9 consecutive away matches but their home form is not that impressive. The Red Devils haven’t scored from open play for almost 460 minutes at home. The goalless Manchester Derby draw, however, showed a progressive Manchester United.
Manchester United struggled to beat Sheffield at Bramall Lane last season. It was a 6 goal draw which saw The Red Devils comeback from 2-0 down to go 3-2 up only for Oli McBurnie to score in the final minute.
The reverse fixture at Old Trafford saw Anthony Martial score his and Manchester United’s first hattrick in seven years.
THE BLADES VS THE RED DEVILS: PREVIEW
This should be a routine win on the road for The Red Devils. However, they are known for making things harder for themselves. This is evident from their Champions League group exit.
Sheffield can finally hit back and get some points from this fixture. It won’t change their position in the Premier League table but it would give some much-needed motivation and boost to Chris Wilder and the boys.
A win at Bramall Lane would take them to 5th position as Chelsea dropped points away at Wolves and Manchester City dropped points to West Brom. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can take advantage of the situation and move closer to the top. As Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur face each other and are bound to drop points. The Red Devils also have a game in hand.
SHEFFIELD VS MANCHESTER UNITED: TEAM NEWS
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a full squad at his disposal. The only doubtful being Edinson Cavani after the Uruguayan missed out the Manchester Derby due to a minor knock.
Paul Pogba’s involvement is also dicey after his agent Mino Raiola made comments on the Frenchman’s future before the UCL game against RB Leipzig.
Bruno Fernandes will definitely be the first name on the team-sheet for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Portugal International has taken the Premier League by storm ever since his arrival from Sporting CP like a certain #7 in the past for The Red Devils.
Chris Wilder is still without Jack O’Connell and Oli McBurnie’s involvement will be under contention as well after he landed weirdly on his shoulder in the last fixture for The Blades.
“Their movement all night was fabulous and we couldn’t get near them. That’s the disappointing thing because we were passive in our approach. We stood off of them and we allowed good players to dictate the game and it became very, very easy for them.”– Chris Wilder after 3-0 loss to Manchester United in 2019/20 PL season.

Sheffield United Predicted Line-up:
Manchester United will try to capitalise on the points dropped by other title contenders. They can easily get the three points at Bramall Lane. It’s very hard to see Sheffield steal points from this fixture barring a miracle.
Prediction: Sheffield United 0 – 3 Manchester United
