Spanish giants looking to sign one of Maresca’s favorites

Josh Acheampong could be signing for Real Madrid soon. As of now, he has featured regularly for the Chelsea U21 squad. He was also a part of Maresca’s pre-season squad in the US tour. The Blues are keen to improve from their exploits last season. They aim to be good all over the pitch. Last time, they ended the Premier League by securing a 6th place finish. But, their UEL hopes were crushed. Man Utd ended up winning the FA Cup to qualify for the UEL. So, the Blues will now be playing in the UECL 24/25. At the same time, Newcastle will not be playing in any European competitions this campaign.

Chelsea are being very active in the transfer market. They are focusing to build a good squad from the start. They are keen to make a return to the top 4. As of now, they have already made some serious moves in the market. Just this recently, they have signed Mike Penders from Genk. Now, they have another new goalkeeper with them. Also, they have managed to buy Pedro Neto from Wolves. But, buying is not all they are doing. Maresca is also keeping an eye on nurturing his young players. Josh Acheampong is one of those promising talents, and now could be on the verge of joining Real Madrid.

The journey of Josh Acheampong

As per caughtoffside.com, the 18-year-old joined Chelsea’s academy in 1996. He was merely 8 at the time. He signed his first professional contract in January this year. As per transfermarkt.co.in, he has 34 club appearances at the youth and senior level. He has managed to get 9 G/A so far. He has also made his senior debut for the first team. As per en.wikipedia.org, he went on to come off the bench in a 2-0 win against Tottenham. He was given the time due to injuries to many players. Josh Acheampong has come a long way since then.

Josh Acheampong was doing so good that he was made a part of the US tour squad. So, even he played a part in Trevoh Chalobah not getting selected. The 18-year-old right back is clearly doing wonders on the field. At the same time, he is very flexible at the back. He can also play as a center-back. He still has a couple of years remaining on his contract. But, a right offer could see him leaving the Stamford Bridge.

Big clubs interested

Josh Acheampong has caught the eyes of some top European clubs. Real Madrid are already in the hunt for him. They can use the 18-year-old as a long term replacement for ageing Dani Carvajal. Also, if he continues to improve for Los Blancos, he could make up for them missing out on Leny Yoro. The right back also has some attention from France. PSG are also eyeing a move for him. Both the clubs are looking to sign him for securing their future. They are willing to pay somewhere around £15 million for the youngster.

While Josh Acheampong has been good, he is still learning. It is pretty evident that he has ways to go. His error cost Chelsea a goal in the pre-season against Wrexham. But, he is still a promising young prospect. To some extent, the Blues and Maresca would even love to keep him at the Bridge. But, it seems highly unlikely. They will have to sell him, keeping in mind the PSR. As a result, Acheampong may join Real Madrid or PSG soon. His future in London remains doubtful. We could see him being on the move very soon.
