Arsenal are doing very well in transfer markets since the arrival of Mikel Arteta. Arteta and Edu have a clear plan and they only trigger specific signings. They are also not shy to let the exisiting stars leave who they think have become surplus to the squad. Arsenal need to let Gabriel Jesus leave as the Brazilian has failed to deliver in recent time.
Gunners ended last season becoming runner-ups in Premier League for the second consecutive time. Arteta felt the need to sign a more clinical striker. He was able to sell Eddie Nketiah and Jesus was also on the verge of leaving.
However, Gunners kept Jesus and promoted Kai Havertz as the main striker. Havertz has been able to provide very good results but does not have a proper backup. Arsenal may be seen once again going after a striker next year but they also have to let their top earners leave.
Arsenal need to let Gabriel Jesus leave
Gunners paid Manchester City £45 million to sign Jesus in 2022. His first season with Arsenal was decent as he scored 11 goals and picked up 6 assists in 26 league matches. But, his form dropped last season.
Jesus was only able to score 4 goals and pick 5 assists in 27 league games. He fell down the pecking order and lost his place as a regular starter. This season he has not been able to open his scoring tally and has not even assisted yet.
Jesus earns £265,000 per week which is far more than Saka and Martinelli. Saka and Martinelli earn £195,000 and £180,000 per week despite providing far better results than Jesus.
Martinelli has rediscovered his form since Calafiori started playing on the left side if the pitch. In the last three league matches, Martinelli has scored twice and assisted twice.
On the other hand, Saka has been the best Arsenal player this season. He has scored 2 goals and picked up 7 assists in Premier League. This suggests that, Gunners need to rethink about the pay schemes and maybe finally let Jesus leave.
How was Jesus in his first league start of the season
Gabriel Jesus started his first league match of the season against Southampton. He played 60 minutes and was replaced by Leandro Trossard.
Jesus was not looking at his best as he only completed 9 passes with only 69% accuracy. He did create 3 chances and had 3 total shots but none of his shots were on target.
Jesus only had 20 touches and 1 pass in the final third. This performance suggests that Jesus is struggling to make his impact on the Arsenal side. All stats as per FOTMOB.
