Star who rejected Liverpool offer now seeking second chance

Liverpool FC had a very silent transfer window this summer. They only made two signings along with change in management. Arne Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp. The Reds also wanted to sign a defensive midfielder this summer but were unable to do so. Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi but fell short as the player rejected the offer.

Just few weeks after the summer transfer window deadline, Zubimendi is said to be regretting his decision. As per Estadio Deportivo, Zubimendi is seeking a second chance to join the Premier League giants in January.

Zubimendi seeking for second chance in January

Martin Zubimendi had a very good last season. He helped Real Sociedad to finish sixth in La Liga. In addition, he also helped Spain to win the Euro 2024. His performances caught attention of many big clubs. Liverpool were one amongst many clubs who wanted to sign Zubimendi. But, the player opted to stay in Spain.

Real Sociedad have been very bad this season. They have only been able to win 1 out of the 6 league fixtures. To make matters worse, they have lost 4 matches and are on 16th position in the table.

On the other hand, Liverpool have been pretty decent this season. They have only lost 1 match and are on 4th position in the Premier League. Zubimendi is regretting his choice and the reports say that he is pushing for a move to Anfield in the winter transfer window.

Will Liverpool go after Zubimendi

Despite the player wanting to join the club, it will highly depend on what Liverpool think of the situation. Right now, Arne Slot is using Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch in the middle. This is surely paying off for Slot, as the duo have been highly effective. They have Dominik Szoboszlai in front of them who is mainly focused on attacking side of the game.
