Stefan De Vrij is Open for a Move to Tottenham Hotspur

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Stefan De Vrij is open to a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Inter Milan Centre Back has reportedly shown interest in a switch to the Premier League Outfit. He has informed his close ones about his desire to be a part of Antonio Conte’s Team. De Vrij was an integral part of Inter Milan under Conte when they won the Serie A last season. The Italian Giants won the Scudetto after almost 10 years of struggle.

Tottenham Hotspur sacked Nuno Espirito Santo after a 3-0 loss against Manchester United. The Portuguese were shown the exit door within just 3 months in charge. However, under Nuno Spurs started off the season on a high note. They defeated Champions Manchester City during the first Matchday of the Season. He also won the Premier League Manager of the month in August.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte succeeded Nuno at the White Hart Lane and hopes of winning an Elusive Trophy is higher than ever. The Italian Manager is now looking to bring some players to Tottenham Hotspur from his Former Club. Stefan De Vrij has emerged as a Prime Target for the North Londoners. The 29-year-old Dutch still has 2 years left on his current contract with Inter. He came to the San Siro in 2018 from S.S Lazio.

Will Antonio Conte finally break the Jinx and bring some Silverwares at Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur has gone exactly a decade or so without winning a Major Trophy. The last time that the Club won a major trophy was back in 2008 when they defeated Chelsea to become the English League Cup (Carabao Cup) winners.

However, the North Londoners were very close to winning a Trophy on several occasions. Earlier this year they reached the Carabao Cup final where they lost to Manchester City by 1-0. Under Mauricio Pochettino, the club finished second in the Premier League during the 2016/17 season as they were 7 points behind eventual champions Chelsea. It was their best league finish since the 1962–63 season. Tottenham Hotspur reached the UEFA Champions League final in 2019 just to lose against Liverpool by 2-0.

The Spurs Management and their Fans will hope for a change in their Fortunes after acquiring the services of Antonio Conte. The Italian’s reputation is very high as wherever he has gone to manage, Trophies have followed him.

The Reports about De Vrij joining Tottenham Hotspur would see him reunite with the manager that led the Milan outfit to the Serie A title last season. Stefan De Vrij was featured in 32 of their 38 league games on the way to the Scudetto.

He has continued similarly this term as well. Starting in one of their league games and all four Champions League outings so far.
