Indian National Team Skipper Sunil Chettri had a major role in their win against Bangladesh as he smashed two goals to hand India the much-needed win.
On Monday, Sunil took over Argentina’s Lionel Messi to become the second-highest active international goalscorer with 74 goals in his tally.
Cristiano Ronaldo has scored the most numbers of international goals(103) amongst the active goal scorer. Meanwhile, Sunil Chettri stands second in the active international goalscorer after Ronaldo. Whereas Lionel Messi has 73 goals in his 143 appearances for the Argentina Team.
He is also enlisted in the men’s all-time list of international goalscorers, ranked at number 11. He is just behind Sandor Kocsis(Hungary), Kunishige Kamamoto(Japan), and Bashar Abdullah(Kuwait), who all have 75 goals in their name.
Prior to the India Bangladesh match, the Indian team were winless in eleven straight fixtures. But Chettri’s double goal ensured an easy 2-0 win over Bangladesh.
India will face Afghanistan next on the 15th, as head coach Igor Stimac is hoping to finish 3rd in Group E. Stimac is aiming for a place in the Asian Cup 2023. India will guarantee a place in the Asian Cup only if they finish 3rd on the table.
