Telles wanted by both Roma and Inter

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles is garnering interest from top sides in Serie A. Both Inter Milan and AS Roma are reported to be in pursuit of the Brazilian.

According to multiple Italian news outlets, Inter are looking to bring Telles on a loan this summer. However, Sky Sports have claimed that AS Roma have also entered the race for his signature.

Telles made his move to the Premier League last season but was not able to cement his position with the Red Devils. A move to either Inter or Roma could help in providing regular game time, while still competing at the top.

Inter Milan is desperate to strengthen their full-back positions especially after losing both Ashraf Hakimi and Ashley Young this summer. The other left-back option is Aleksander Kolarov, who is not a long term option at 35. Telles could be an excellent option as the Brazilian has played for Inter during the 2015/16 season.

AS Roma, however, entered the frame after their primary left-back option Leonardo Spinnazzola was injured during the Euro 2020. The Italian is expected to miss few months and the new Roma boss Jose Mourinho considers Telles as the perfect solution.

Both Inter and Roma have previous experience dealing with Manchester United in the transfer market. Romelu Lukaku, Matteo Darmian, Alexis Sanchez and Ashely Young moved to Inter from United in the recent seasons. As for Roma, they have a prior relationship with the Red Devils in the form of Chris Smalling.

A major issue for Alex Telles in Manchester United is the lack of game time. The arrival of the Brazilian has injected more energy and form to English left-back Luke Shaw. Shaw’s performance in the Euro 2020 also meant that it will be very hard to replace him from the Red Devils starting line-up.

However, a recent comment from Telles on Manchester United’s website is positive. The 28-year-old said that he is ready to stay and fight for a place in the starting lineup. United will be wary of selling Telles as an injury to Shaw could backfire on them.
