Ten Hag sets his rules at Manchester United

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Erik Ten Hag has been the Manchester United First team Coach now for more than 2 months. The former Ajax boss was not shy in admitting that big changes are needed in this squad if it is to compete for titles. The new boss took a dig at how less discipline has really been affecting their performances on the pitch. The players had off-the-pitch issues which was not at all helping with the team’s morale.

Now the new boss has instilled new rules at the club that everyone must adhere to. Bruno Fernandes has come out to support the rules and discipline that Ten Hag has made at the club. The new rules include no Alcohol during game weeks along with no permission for any personal chefs. Players turning late for training will be dropped from the team and all complaints should reach the manager first.

“I think we missed that for a while,” Fernandes said. “I think, for me, the way I see discipline is important. For me, discipline is not only the way you play on the pitch, the position that you have, what you have to do, it’s also off the pitch – don’t be late for the meetings, don’t be late for the meals.”

“I think that’s really important because if everyone is on time and someone comes late, he should be punished and I think that’s really good that he’s doing that and for me amazing, because I like to be on time, so I won’t have problems with that.”

How will Ten Hag manage the Big profiles?

Ten Hag will have a big task at Manchester United. The Ajax team he managed was totally under his control. But it will be interesting to see if that will be the case in Manchester. His Ajax team were mainly youngsters nurtured by him. Here at United, Ten Hag may find it difficult to manage some high-profile players.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be one to look out for. The Portuguese is extremely professional but is not used to being controlled by coaches. It is still not known how Ronaldo will fit in Ten Hag’s style of play. The 37-year-old does not have the legs anymore to press and run all over the pitch. But he is someone that guarantees goals for Ten Hag. It will be fascinating to see how Ten Hag uses him.
