The fire still burns: Sir Alex Ferguson admits missing his old role

Sir Alex Ferguson is considered as the greatest Premier League manager. He won 13 league titles, two Champions Leagues, five FA Cups and four League Cups during his time as Manchester United boss. He ended his career in 2013 after winning the Premier League for the last time. Ferguson helped Red Devils to reclaim the league title back from their city rivals Manchester City.

Sir Alex Ferguson still misses his old job

The legendary United boss told BBC that he misses his old role sometimes. He told that he went to watch the European final with his wife after his retirement. Ferguson told his wife that this is what he misses referring to big games or European games.

Later, Ferguson added that he went to most of the European finals because he can relate to them. He said that he could have done that (managing a club in European games) every day. Lastly, he said that these are the big events where United should always be involved in.

Man United after 2013

Manchester United have not been same after the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. United fans have seen 5 different managers along with 2 caretakers and 1 interim manager. Just like Ferguson, United fans miss him too in their dugout.

Since the start of 2013/14 season, United have never won the Premier League. In addition, they have been very poor in the Champions League. United have only won 7 trophies in 11 years since Ferguson left.

Jose Mourinho is the most successful manager in the post Ferguson era. He won Europa League with United but later was sacked. Erik Ten Hag is the current United boss but is in immense pressure due to not getting good results.

Man United will now play Crystal Palace tonight. They will hope to make three wins in a row for the first time this season.
