On Sunday night in the clash between Liverpool and Manchester United in Premier League finished 0-0 at Anfield. The game didn’t live up to the high standard and in the end, neither of Klopp and Solskjaer wanted to take a risk which made the match boring for the football fans.
Manchester United camp may have mixed feelings after the game. Before the match, the Red Devils would take the draw but after the match, they are a bit disappointed after missing two brilliant chances.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be concerned by the poor performance of his front three. After thrashing Crystal Palace by 7-0 they only managed 1 goal in 4 matches and earned only 3 points.
Manchester United now remain top of the table with 37 points in 18 games and Liverpool went down from 2nd spot to 4th with 34 points in 18 games.
Klopp’ reaction after the game:
Jurgen Klopp spoke about his team’s lack of clinical finishing in front of the goal
“There’s no easy explanation. We always missed chances, just then we had another one which we used and that’s how it is,”
“We have to keep going, in these situations in football you always have to keep going.
“You have to try to ignore the talk around, because that’s how it is – it’s football, everybody wants to see goals, if you don’t score goals everybody talks about it.
“But we have to stay focused on doing the right stuff. You cannot force it, ‘shoot now’ or stuff like this, it’s more important the way you react to a missed chance.
“In a really good game, you miss chances, but you don’t care, the next ball you try again.
“When you didn’t score for a while then you deal differently with it, and that’s the challenge.
“I liked the game, I saw a lot of good individual performances and the team performance was really good.”– Klopp
Liverpool manager Klopp also digs at Solskjaer’ approach to the fixture;
“We played football, tried to do it, force them back into their own box,”
“The worst thing you can face in the world, in football is you play against a side with world-class players and they all defend with all they have, deep in the box and only counter-attack.”
“It’s really difficult – that’s the biggest challenge”
“I think with all the things that were said before the game – ‘United is flying and we are struggling’ – and then playing this kind of game, I was really happy with that.
“We tried it in the second half again but you cannot deny United for 95 minutes, especially with the counter-attacking threat they have.
“They had two really good chances, I have to say, but we had our chances in the second half too.”– Klopp
Solskjaer’ post-match reaction:
Manchester United manager Ole Gunner Solskjær expressed his disappointment after the draw
“It’s only a good result if we win the next game,”
“It was an opportunity missed with the chances we had but then again we were playing a very good side. I’m disappointed but still a point is OK if you win the next one.
“We were stronger towards the end. We didn’t start at all in the first half. We didn’t have any composure or try to impose ourselves.– Solskjaer
“The team is working hard for each other.
“We have improved and progressed. It’s not just the result we’re disappointed with, it’s some of the performances. I know these boys can play better.”
Unlike Klopp, Solskjær praised the Liverpool side and said
“Fair play to them – with two central midfielders at the back and to defend as well as they did shows their quality.”– Solskjaer
