There is a hearing set to start from Monday for the alleged 115 financial breaches by Man City. The decision will be made by an independent commision. The commision will be independent of influence by either Premier League or Manchester City.
Why exactly is there a hearing against Man City
Premier League have accused City to have broke the financial fair play rules over nine years, from 2009 to 2018. They say that City failed to provide accurate financial information. There is a belief that one City manager who was in control for four years was getting paid way more than what was officially stated.
In addition, Premier League have also said that City have failed to comply with UEFA’s fair play rules for five years. Lastly, they say that the Sky Blues were not co-operative during the investigation. However, City have denied all the charges.
If Man City are found guilty in the hearing, they will have to face points deduction. Everton and Nottingham Forest have already faced this last season. Another unlikely punishment is City getting excluded from Premier League.
When will the decision be made
As per Sky Sports, the hearing will go on for atleast two months. All of the 115 charges will be heard individually. The independent comission will then review the information.
Both City and Premier League will strongly represent themselves in the court. It will be a lengthy process due to the amount of the charges. The decision could be made public in March or later.
However if Man City are found guilty in the hearing, they will appeal the decision. This will dely the actions or points deduction even further. City have denied all the charges. They said earlier that they are ready to put this matter to rest once and for all.
