Thiago Silva makes a return to the Chelsea training ground

Former Chelsea captain Thiago Silva was spotted at Cobham during the recent break in play due to the International fixtures.

The Legend returns as Thiago Silva made a short visit to the Chelsea training ground amid the International Break. The 39 year old Brazillian left Chelsea after last season to make a return to Fluminense, to his home country. Despite being present only for four years at the club Silva made place in the hearts of each and every Chelsea supporter. He currently sits on the same platter as club legends Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and Gianfranco Zola. The leadership, the attitude, the experince and more over the aura that Silva posseses helped the club during all the ups and downs.

THIAGO SILVA’S TIME AT CHELSEA

Thiago Silva’s time at Chelsea has been full of ups and downs. He arrived at the club in 2020 after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain. The former Brazil captain graced the pitch at Stamford Bridge for the next four years. Nobody expected him to stay that long because he was already past his peak and was almost 34 when he arrived at club. With the vast physical and fast pace game of Premier League football people expected him to act as a back up option. But he proved people wrong after being an elementary part of the Chelsea team that won the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021.

Soon after that Chelsea went through a difficult period with the ownership change that happened. Roman Abrahmovic was forced to sell the club after complexities caused by the Russia-Ukrain war. A consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly named Blue Co bought the club. They invested a lot of money bought in new players, managers kept on changing. Players came in as big money signings and flopped out. Everything was drastically changiing about the club. While the money invested had an exponential growth, the club’s points tally went inversely proportional. But Silva was ageing like fine wine, becoming more and more crucial for a struggling Chelsea team. He even captained the team most of the time but also agreed to hand over the captaincy to the younger generations.

The scenes during Thiago Silva’s farewell will forever stay in the hearts of every hardcore Chelsea fan. The Brazillian wept after his farewell match promised the Blues fans that he will be back one day. Silva surel;y etched his name into the hearts of each and every Chelsea suppporter.

ONCE A BLUE ALWAYS A BLUE

Silva was spotted at Chelsea traning ground on tuesday. Assuming that he took advantage of the two week break during the International break he flew to London to make this short visit. The former blues captain spent the time taking pictures with the members of the staff and presiding over a training session. Silva was pictured wearing a Chelsea training jacket with initials DB on them while he watched the training session.

He must have called his time at the club but both of his kids Isago and Iago are currently playing for Chelsea youth team. It seems he is reluctant to cut lose this special connection with the club. At a timultous time like this a visit from such a legend of the game might have bought some motivation into the players. And I am sure some of them might have had a word with Silva at some point on the day.

At a timultous time like this at least some of the supportes might have wished for Thiago Silva to come back. But he is currently enjoying his life back home at Fluminense. And as the old saying goes all good things comes to an end. Chelsea need to move on and need young players like Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana to step in and build a future for the club.

Silva took to his socials posting pictures with the staffs and etching a sweet message to the fans. He ended the text by saying “See you again”. Chelsea surely has a special place in Thiago Silva’s heart.
