Thiago Silva speaks on West Ham’s Paqueta

Football Express

Thiago Silva is one of the best defenders of this generation. The Brazilian is a leader on and off the pitch. Despite his age, he is still going strong for Chelsea and won the Champions League with them in 2021. H He is one of the first names on the team for any coach with his experience and quality are game changers for his teams. But now that Tuchel is gone, it is now known if Thiago Silva will play a prominent role at Chelsea anymore. New manager Graham Potter has different ideas and ideologies, so there will be big changes at the club.

As per reports, Silva is eyeing a worthy World Cup to have with Brazil. The Selecao have a star-studded squad and will be one of the favorites in Qatar. Recently, Silva revealed how he talked to Chelsea about signing his Brazilian teammate Lucas Paqueta. The midfielder was on the market with rumors of him leaving Lyon. There were a lot of clubs interested but none made an offer as such. In the end, it was David Moyes and West Ham who placed an offer for Paqueta that Lyon accepted.

But Chelsea could have got Paqueta had they listened to Silva’s advice. On Paqueta and his premier league move, Silva said:

” I heard he was about to leave Lyon, so I had some conversations here with some people, but unfortunately things didn’t work out. We weren’t 100% sure he would leave Lyon. The last week arrived, this thing got clearer and we had some other priorities because of the injuries we have in the team. So we needed a striker, another defender. A midfielder was a little less. I think that’s why things didn’t evolve well.”

What next for Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel?

Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel after a series of poor results. Tedd Boehly has now got his eyes towards Graham Potter. The American owner is a big fan of Potter and feels that he will be the answer to Chelsea’s problems. But Chelsea spent loads of cash bringing in players that Tuchel wanted. Fofana, Aubameyang, and others were brought in this season.

His sacking seems to be harsh given what he achieved at Chelsea in just 19 months. The german is his words was ” devastated by his sacking“. Certainly, he deserved more time for how he helped them win the UCL in 2021. But now with Graham Potter, Chelsea will look to bounce back after a nightmare start in the Premier League and the Champions League.
