Three Robert Lewandowski alternatives Barca can go for

Robert Lewandowski‘s saga still does not have any end product until now. The Polish striker has made it clear that he does not wish to play for the Bavarians again. The 32-year-old has no intention to sign any other new contract and feels disrespected by the German club. Spanish Giants Barcelona are the front runners in signing the Bayern Munich man, having made official offers as well which were rejected by the Bundesliga champions.

The signing of Lewandowski seems imminent but there may just be a scenario where he can end up at Bayern only. The Germans have been rejecting Bids from the Blaugranas which might force them to look for other options elsewhere. An analytical approach taken at players identifies 3 alternative replacements for the Polish.

Alvaro Morata

2022 January transfer window emerged as a time when Alvaro Morata to Barcelona topped the headlines. The Spanish striker was really close to signing for the Bluagranas , with coach Xavi a big fan of the ex-Madrid man. But too much complexities in the transfer led to Morata staying at Juventus only.

Alvaro Morata is not the typical goalscoring striker as his best season was a 15 goal season only. But being Spanish and familiar with the short passing tiki-taka gameplay, Morata is a key member of Luis Enrique’s Spanish squad. His hold up play is one of the best in the world , not to mention his brilliant link up play. The Juventus ace boasts excellent passing skill and instinctive striker movements.

The Spaniard can be an excellent addition to Barca’s already world-class squad. His playing style would be a huge asset for Xavi’s new project , given he is in his prime. High pressing , defensive work rate , Spanish DNA are some of the really encouraging facets of Morata’s game which shows how underrated he is. It is true he won’t be able to join the likes of Robert Lewandowski in terms of number of goals but his other qualities make him a perfect signing for Xavi.

Serge Gnabry

Barcelona’s pursuit of one Bayern man might not be successful which has got them to go for another Bayern ace, Serge Gnabry. The 26-year-old is facing an uncertain future at the club and might just be a brilliant pickup for the Catalans.

The Bayern star has been one of the best goal scorers for a few seasons now and has really attracted interest from various European clubs. In Barca, he may just fit very well alongside the likes of Ansu Fati, Torres, Depay, and others. But European Champions Real Madrid will also be looking to sign the German, given his impressive form for quite a while now.

The German winger has been incredible close control of the ball and his ability to run into space and make incisive runs is second to none. Barca’s high possession game will be benefitted a lot with Gnabry on the wing. A brilliant goal scorer, Gnabry also excels in the creative side of the game. Long balls , through passes, one two’s are his strong areas which really goes well with Barca’s play style.

Still only 26 , Gnabry is yet to hit his prime and can be a marquee signing for the Catalans. If Barca indeed does go for him, it will be a difficult operation to pull through and Bayern won’t let him go for anything less than his value.

Gianluca Scamacca

If there is one man who has taken Italy by storm, then it is surely Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca. The Italian had a revelation season last year in Serie A. A big and tall imposing striker , Scamacca is already on the radar of big European clubs , given his young age and high potential.

The 22 year old scored 16 goals in Serie A last season. Known as an excellent header of the ball , the Sassuolo striker bagged 3 with his head. Off the ball movements are one of his biggest strengths which would do Barca a lot of good with the creative players finally having a target.

The Italian also has the ability to drop into midfield with his brilliant link up play coming in handy for Sassuolo last season. But inconsistency has dawned upon the player for a while and if Barca are to make an investment into him, then it would be a big risk.

But most likely with age on his side and Xavi’s master tactics in his mind, Scamacca can become a beast within some time if he continues his improvement. Defensively, no one can fault the 22 year old and if he improves in the attacking aspect, there wont be many better than the Sassuolo guy.
