Top 5 Serie A Stars rumored to leave in the Summer Transfer Window

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Serie A has had a very close title race for most of the season. However, it is getting much clearer who is going to be the Champion of Italy.

AC Milan was leading the race until January but their inconsistency put them out of the top spot. And Inter Milan won their last eight games which put them 6 points clear with a game in hand.

It seems Juventus‘ winning streak of 9 consecutive Serie A titles will come to an end. And Inter will become the champion of Italy for the first time since 2010.

But, the race for the top four spots is still on as 2nd spot Milan is separated from the seventh spot Lazio by only 10 points. This gap can be made even smaller as Lazio have a game in hand.

In this situation of the league, there are few rumours of the fall of stars from Serie A in the next season.

5 players who could leave Serie A this summer:

Nikola Milenkovic:

The 23-years-old Fiorentina center-back is in the news for the outgoings. The Serbian international was signed by La Viola for just €5 million in the summer of 2017 from Partizan Belgrade.

The 6’3 defender has a contract with Fiorentina until June 2022. He has rejected any contract extension as he wants to leave the Florence-based side. He wants to play in the English Premier League

Milenkovic is linked with several English clubs and Manchester United are favorites to sign the highly-rated defender.

Alvaro Morata:

Juventus took Alvaro Morata on loan from Atletico Madrid in the summer. Morata started really well at first in the early stages of the season in his second spell for the Bianconeri.

But Morata could not continue his form and dropped his level. And unfortunately, Morata has been diagnosed with Cytomegalovirus – the flu-like symptom after he fainted in the game against Porto.

Now, it is believed that Juventus won’t make his move permanent and he will return to the parent club.

Kalidou Koulibaly:

Napoli defender has been linked with a move away for 3 seasons now. In the last two seasons, he was linked with Manchester United and Manchester City but it is very hard to negotiate with the club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and in the end, he remained at Napoli.

With another transfer window coming in the summer, Koulibaly is linked to move away from the club again. Manchester United and Everton are linked with him.

Napoli bought Koulibaly from Genk in 2014 for €7.8 million. Now he has a contract with Gli Azzurri until 2023. He might be off for a different challenge as Napoli could reduce the asking price due to the financial situation due to Covid-19.

Paulo Dybala:

Paulo Dybala was linked with a move away from Turin in the summer of 2019. However, the deal fell through as he wanted to play for Juventus. But in this season he has struggled to stay fit and could not get a consistent playing time under new manager Andrea Pirlo.

Pirlo could not fit the Argentine forward in his playing side. This resulted in Dybala only getting 8 league starts this season.

The 27-year-old forward was signed by the Old Lady of Turin in 2015 for €40 million from Palermo. He got a contract with Juventus till 2022 and the Bianconeri could sell him in the summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo:

Juventus will rebuild the squad from next season and Cristiano Ronaldo has one more year of contract remaining with the club. He will be 37-year-old by then so with his huge contract in mind Juve could sell him in the summer.

They bought Ronaldo from Real Madrid for €117 million in 2018 with the hope of winning the UEFA Champions League. However, they were knocked out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 stage in the last two years.

It will be a huge loss for Serie A if Ronaldo leaves the league in the summer without winning the Champions League.
