Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Liverpool Post-Match:

The game started in a blistering manner as Sadio Mane missed a glorious chance to put Liverpool ahead but his shot was off-target.

In the following move, Spurs thought they got the first goal through Son but VAR correctly choked off the goal for just millimetre offside. Son was offside on the build-up play.

Liverpool applied the constant pressure and Mane got another opportunity to score but his shot saved by the goalkeeper Hugo Lloris but if the ball went in it would be disallowed for offside.

Mane went again behind the Spurs defence but thanks to a brilliant last-ditch tackle from Rodon saved Tottenham.

But at the last minute of the first half, Liverpool got the goal, a ball from deep behind the Spurs backline took down the ball superbly by Mane and his cross was tapped into the goal by Firmino from three years out.

The second half started like 100 miles an hour, Liverpool scored the second goal just after 72 seconds, Mane’s shot Lloris could not deal with properly and follow up ball calmly finished by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Spurs got one back few minutes after from a great long-range effort from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Which gave life to the game.

Mohamed Salah’s goal was disallowed for handball, VAR clearly showed the ball on Firmino’s hand in build-up.

On the 65th minute mark from a defensive mistake from Joe Rodon. Rodon couldn’t clear properly Alexander-Arnold’s cross and Mane took the opportunity brilliantly.

Notable Performances:

Sadio Mane(LW) – (8.5/10)(Liverpool): Scored the third goal and assisted the first. For the second goal, the initial shot came from him as well. After he started the game pretty bad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold(RB) – (8/10)(Liverpool): Scored the second and assisted the third. This performance will give him confidence after a slow start to the season.

Hugo Lloris(GK) – (5/10)(Tottenham Hotspur): Should have done better on the first goal and also could not deal for the second goal.

Spurs will play away to Brighton & Hove Albion on 31st January in their next Premier League game and Liverpool will play on Sunday against West Ham United in London for their next league encounter.
