According to a report by Fichajes.net, Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in signing Granada center-back Domingos Duarte this summer. Tottenham had a wild ride this week as they defeated Manchester City in the Premier League opener. And lost to Paços de Ferreira in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League match. Following the defeat, the Spurs manager has demanded to sign a center-back as soon as possible.

As per the report, Nuno Santo had a talk with Daniel Levy and tabled a cheap option of Domingos Duarte. The Portuguese manager is fond of Duarte’s good feet and his ability to win individual duels and wants him at Spurs this summer. While they might also get him cheaply as his current contract ends in two years.

Duarte currently plays for Spanish outfit Granada which he joined back in 2019 from Sporting Lisbon. And since his joining he has been a regular starter in the team with 82 appearances in which he also scored 4 goals. And following his growth in the last couple of years, he would be a great addition to Tottenham Hotspurs backline.

Tottenham have already made a defensive signing this season as they bought Cristian Romero for 42 million. However, Nuno Santo is not happy with his current squad and made a center-back signing priority. Earlier reports indicated that Spurs are eyeing a move for Jules Kounde, but his price came in between and stopped the deal. Following which Santo has proposed Duarte as a low-cost option.

It is true that Duarte has not been much hyped as compared to Kounde. But that’s because many didn’t see his development over the past few years. If given the right opportunity Duarte can also shine bright, and that opportunity might arrive with Tottenham Hotspur.
